Alain Trudel, Conductor
Praised by La Presse for his “immense talent as conductor, musician and performer”, Canadian conductor Alain Trudel is Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Orchestre symphonique de Laval and Principal Youth and Family Conductor of the National Arts Centre Orchestra. Trudel is the new Music Director of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra (Ohio, United States), is Principal Guest Conductor of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and was previously Principal Guest Conductor of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, musical advisor for the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Trudel was the CBC Radio Orchestra conductor 2006–2008, taking the orchestra to new heights of artistic quality. He has conducted every major orchestra in Canada as well as many orchestras on the international scene. First known to the public as “the Jascha Heifetz of the trombone” (Le monde de la musique), Alain Trudel has played as a guest soloist with orchestras worldwide. Alain Trudel was the first Canadian to be a Yamaha international artist, and is the recipient of numerous awards including the Virginia Parker, Charles Cros (France), and Heinz Unger prizes. In 2017, he conducted ‘‘Another Brick in The Wall’’ at the Opéra de Montréal; he will conduct the American premiere in Cincinnati in July 2018 and the European premiere in Paris in 2019.
