Principal clarinetist with the Orchestre symphonique de Trois-Rivières (OSTR) since 1987, and the Orchestre des Grands Ballet Canadiens since 1996, Zaven Zakarian is a graduate of McGill University. He is also a member of the Orchestre symphonique de Laval.

Zaven has appeared as a soloist with l’OSTR and the Orchestre Métropolitain. He has freelanced with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, as well as the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Center Orchestra and the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. He has appeared in many recordings for CBC/ Radio-Canada, ATMA Classique and other productions. In 2002, Zaven won a “Prix Opus”, a prize given for a live concert featuring his performance of Copland’s Clarinet Concerto.
He teaches at Vanier College since 1985 and at Concordia University since 2011.
