Charles Richard-Hamelin, silver medalist at the International Chopin Piano Competition in 2015, will be with the Orchestre symphonique de Laval for the first time!
The great pianist and musical genius Glenn Gould, known for his eccentric style, left his mark on the history of music, notably with his controversial interpretation of Brahms’ Concerto No. 1, which this season will be performed by the talented Charles Richard-Hamelin. Also featured is a tribute piece to Gould by Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy, as well as Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll, a piece Gould conducted only months before his untimely death. This concert is presented in partnership with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of Confederation, with financial support from the Government of Canada.
Jean Marchand (alias Monsieur Musique - Unité 9) will read excerpts from Glenn Gould's texts. With the collaboration of Société Littéraire de Laval.
